when the harness goes bad, but often enough when they get brittle and break apart, if the harness is still good and enough of the sensor is intact it might not throw a code, it will just run like crap. For a hundred bucks, it's not much of a gamble since you can resell it to someone else if that isn't the issue. In fact, I need to buy one soon, so if you go that route and get the relocation kit from Bernie I'll buy it off of you if that's not your culprit.
